Oscar is a principal of Maurice Blackburn and has worked on several of the largest shareholder and cartel class actions to be brought in Australia, including the proceedings brought by Maurice Blackburn against Oz Minerals, Treasury Wine Estates and two proceedings against Leighton Holdings, now known as CIMIC Group. He also worked on the firm’s cartel class action against Amcor and Visy.
Oscar has also worked extensively in public interest litigation including Maurice Blackburn’s successful 2015 High Court challenge to a patent over the BRCA1 breast and ovarian cancer gene and the firm’s class action on behalf of children falsely imprisoned by the New South Wales Police Force.
Oscar holds a Bachelor of Arts and Honours in Law. Before joining Maurice Blackburn, Oscar worked for five years as a journalist at Australia’s national broadcaster, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation where he worked for investigative programs including Four Corners, Lateline and Background Briefing and the radio current affairs programs AM, PM and The World Today.
